Card Game Updates

More work on the back design today
That's just a box mock-up and isn't the final design or anything. I spent more time today on the back design and I'm pretty darn happy with it. I wanted to get the look and feel down before starting on the fronts. That's where all the work is going to be. I have the cards mocked-up with marker on paper my wife cut out for me, but they still need a bit more play-testing before they'll be considered final.

Whenever there is an update I'm going to post about it. So you can follow along with the project as I work on it. The goal is to have everything done and off to the printers in time for Fanfest, so fingers crossed that we make it.

Long way to go yet.

These look really nice. I'd love to see CCP offer one or more collectible card games again. As I have a deck in design that is intended for artists, I know how much work there is. One thing I've done is design my cards in Autodesk Graphic, an Adobe Illustrator equivalent. Then I print them out on premium glossy photo paper to use as prototypes ... the edges aren't rounded and the cardback design isn't there but that's okay for playtesting. Once they are all designed, I'll have some test decks printed from makeplayingcards.com. If you haven't checked them out, I recommend them. I have ordered stuff from them before and been very happy.

Good luck with this project. Jealous of all the folks at Fanfest in 2018 who will get one of these decks.

Thanks Mynxee. That is one of the places I've looked at, the other one is called ShuffledInk and they do a lot of game decks. Our playtest decks are die cut on my Wife's Cricut machine, which is what we use to make our stickers and vinyls with. Otherwise I just write on them with marker and that works pretty well. We had a good playtest last weekend in Maryland with Argos and friends from ABA.

You planning any original art for these or just screenshots and such?

The image above is 100% original, that keepstar is a illustration not a screenshot (https://flic.kr/p/G99cya). While I anticipate the fronts will be more original design than illustration, they will be originals and any art will be created and not screenshots.
