Behind The Kill

So the other day I'm out in my Stratios looking for people doing things they shouldn't be doing. Mixing it up. I had just had a draw fight with a Vexor Navy Issue and wasn't happy about it. That's when I noticed the Hound on scan. Normally I tend to leave Stealth Bombers to their own devices as they are usually quick to cloak and vanish into thin air. But since I was also cloaked, I decided to see what they were up to.

I found it in one of those new Bio sites running the NPCs and moving fast. The little ship goes about 3x my speed, so I was in no danger of catching it. But then I noticed that there were 4 of these sites in local and this was the first one. So I hatched a plan that might work. I slowly made my way towards the fast moving bomber, closing the distance as best I could. When it finished the site and cloaked up I immediately warped to the next site at a distance I would warp if I was in a bomber.

Sure enough, it de-cloaked closer than last time. If the little ship continued this process over the course of a few sites - I might get lucky. And so I creeped even closer this time. Rinse and repeat. When it cloaked up I immediately warped to the next site at range and waited.

Sure enough, it landed 7k from me.

I tried to offer advice in local afterwards, but I don't believe they believed me. I can understand that. Why would some a-hole who just killed you want to help you? The truth is, I actually do. I'm not an a-hole, I'm just a player who is playing a different style of game than you are. That's where conflict comes from. You want to achieve a certain goal and I want a juicy kill with some nice loot. My own goal. This is what fuels Eve Online and why it has lasted so long. Among other things.

So yeah, after fights I like to give advice or help if I can. I've been doing that for as long as I've been playing. I do it to both pay back all those players who helped me when I was starting out, and to help elevate the play of other players. Those attempts are often greeted with hostility or anger. And that is understandable.

But being predictable inside of Eve Online will get you killed.
