[ Gooder Eve is a series of on-going articles that examine ways in which Eve can be made Gooder. Some are serious, some are not, but all are intended to create debate, dialogue, and discussion. So enjoy! ]
[ Due to some confusion regarding the previous post, please read below, I've decided to spell out a more comprehensive and sweeping plan outline. This is only a suggested plan of action worthy of debate and consideration. I am only a player and a blogger who happens to be incredibly good-looking and intelligent. ]
Please read the post below this one, but in simple terms everyone gets set to Neutral and generally speaking the individual player losses the ability to set individual rankings. All rankings boil down to Corporation, Alliance, Faction, War, Fleet and Neutral. Caps would be established limiting the size of Alliances and Corporations, something like 500 for Corps and 5,000 for Alliances. Additionally a "Day Tag" would be created, allowing anyone to temporarily 'tag' another pilot (either Blue or Red) for a period of 24hrs, or until DT, whichever comes first.
Jump Bridges would be removed from POS Towers and would be easily seen on overview, much like Cyno Fields and other Sov Structures.
Sov Structures and Infrastructure
All Sov related structures, like TCUs, etc., would take a hit to armor and shield points, making them more vulnerable to destruction. Sov would be established as it was supposed to be during Dominion, the more you own the more it costs. This basic premise was lost somewhere along the line and needs to be enforced and adapted. This would make it extremely difficult to own large chunks of space. If you're not using it, you shouldn't have it.
I'm no SuperCap expert, but even I know the Dreadnaught is useless and the SuperCarrier is waaaay over balanced. This class of ship needs re-balanced in a big way. Using a variety of Nerfs and balances, it shouldn't be difficult for someone who knows more about this then I do to suggest ways that make sense.
While this mostly affects zero space, the effects would be universal. There are hundreds of additional things that need addressed in Eve and we all have our pet issues. For me it is the lowly Battleship, which is in desperate need of some love. But that is a topic for another post. The point is that the above doesn't "fix" Eve, I'm not that arrogant, but what it does do is level a playing field slightly that needs leveled. It shakes things up and brings the universe back to its deadlier origins. This is certainly something that not many people are going to like, or want. But again, I'm not running for anything here and I'm not trying to win any sort of popularity contest.
All I do is plant seeds.
