The folks over at Just challenged us recently to reimagine Eve Online as an 18th century seafaring game. I enjoy a good challenge and I decided to do them one better - how about a futuristic science-fiction version of an 18th century seafaring game instead? Now that sounds like more my speed.
25,000 years from today the New Eden universe has collapsed and has been re-born on a massive ocean world. Fragments of the old universe survive, but humanity has been forced to rebuild and start again. Massive empires flourish and pirates roam the seas from hidden floating fortresses, while dangers and alien technology lurk beneath the surface. It is a world both familiar and unknown to us, a world of danger, adventure, and riches. Vast armadas and solo frigates, harpoon cannons, and island sized whirlpools that can drag even the largest titan class warships to the bottom of the sea.
The more I started thinking about this world, the more I wanted to experience it for myself! This place sounds incredible. Could this be a new board game, or a new video game experience? Either way I love the idea of pushing the concepts of Eve Online into new realms. Again, this is simply a reward challenge right now, a taste, a teaser, if you will. But it could be so much more.
More like the new, New Eden. I'm not 100% sold on the name by the way. But I needed something familiar to sell the concept. It takes a tremendous amount of effort to sell the idea if it was called Parsalalump or some other new name.
I hope that you enjoy living in this world as much as I have and that it sparks your imagination. It is just a fun possibility for now.
As they say on New Eden, "Sail Safe."
