Contradictions

Last week I had a lot of fun driving certain types of people crazy. Such a thing isn't that hard to do within the Eve community. Share an opinion that flies in the face of the established line and watch what happens. Eve is a PvP-centric game. The worst thing to ever happen to Eve Online was the mythologizing of the Mittani. CCP is a company that needs to be profitable. Devs actually care about the game. Null Sec is not the end of a progression ladder for Eve players. I could go on and on. Say anything like this publicly and watch the swamp rise to envelope you. This is not my first rodeo. I understand that it isn't normal for someone to run for CSM, lose, and then tell you they won't be running again. Even though they told you that from the very beginning. The smart thing is to run the first time to gain support for your second attempt the next year. Especially with so many CSM members unable to run next year. The Simple Version

I ran for CSM because I love Eve Online. I ran to win. I did not run to win at all cost. I ran as an independent on purpose. Because I am an independent. I did not ask for Null Bloc support, even though I was aware it might cost me the election. I don't want major Null Bloc support. I would not accept it if it was offered. That is my choice. If I was going to win it would be on my own terms, with support from players who wanted a person they could trust on the CSM without strings attached. I did not win. That's fine. I hoped I would, but I did not expect to. I'm a rational and intelligent human being. I actually did better than anticipated. It was an awesome experience. I learned a lot. I'm happy I ran. I tried sharing some of those learnings this week. I announced early on that if I didn't win this time that I would not be running again. I said that many times. The Minmater Trailer: Another View

This new Minmater trailer is amazing and if you haven't seen it yet, I encourage you to watch it. I may be the only person on this planet who enjoyed seeing something different in this trailer. A crap ton of Eve Online ships flying around in a planet's atmosphere and NOT exploding! That might sound weird, but let me explain. I produce a lot of art and creative based on the universe of Eve Online. Have been for almost 13 years now. And many of those pieces have included Eve ships in planetary atmospheres. It's hard to avoid. Thing is every single time on Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, Forums, and here in these pages - wherever my art appears - there will be comments about how it is impossible for Eve ships to enter an atmosphere. I've tried explaining it as creative license, but it always comes up. Eve players are, if anything, a rather literal bunch. So let me just have this one moment. Despite some issues with the internet in general this morning, CSM voting is now open! I encourage you to vote. No matter what you personally think about the CSM, past, present, or future, the facts are that it plays an important role in the development of Eve Online. Sometimes more important than you might realize. I remember the emergency meeting the CSM had during the Summer of Rage (Incarna). That is just one example. There are dozens more. I started this race knowing I was a long-shot candidate. I have no massive block of voters I can shape into a force of nature. I don't know any skill-injector farmers. Or influencers. All I have is almost 13 years of experience, standing up for what I believe in. I've been in the fight for that entire stretch.
