Quitting!!

No, not Eve.

Almost two weeks ago now my wife and I quit. This isn't the first time we've tried, but it is the first time we've stuck with it. It hasn't been easy the past four years to say the least. Between my business failing, the bankruptcy, the divorce, and all the other problems in our lives - the stress has been insane. But really, all those things are only excuses. We know this. So about three months ago we both switched to a crappy cheap brand and significantly cut back on how much we smoked on a daily basis. This was all a plan and we managed to stick with it. Now we're done.

The downside for me has been my brain the past two weeks. I've written numerous posts that get lost about half-way thru. I've started numerous projects that I lose interest in. And I keep forgetting things, misplacing things, and generally not logging in to Eve. Its been nutty. And the anger and frustration are extremely high right now.

So pardon me for a bit. I'm sure things will improve shortly and I'll be back to being super-awesome you-can-count-on-me guy! The funny part is that the past two weeks have also seen a significant up-tick in opportunities. Lots of new irons in some new fires. Hopefully this is good news that will continue.

And now I'm already losing interest again. I better stop now before this turns into an angry rant about the Eve Store.

Stay Frosty,

As a cancer researcher, you're getting a huge thumbs-up from me.

Glad it's sticking this time for both of you! Unless you have a family medical history that's a physician's worst nightmare (or their gold ticket to a medical journal article!) y'all are doing yourselves a lot of good. As for ranting about the reopened Eve Store... nearly a year late, full of rather pedestrian generic inventory, and it's screwing over everyone but North 'Merica (Rawr!) on shipping. It's earned being ranted at.

As somebody who has quit cold turkey a year ago, now the smoke just smells horribe, but brain-wise it's all ok. At this point I cannot understand why did I keep smoking for 14 years. Good job, hold tight, it's good for you!

I've gone through this with several friends before, and those who succeed are far happier now then they where before. But that's after they make it through the bit your in now.

To sunnier times. o7
Stick with it.

You did well to quit both at the same time. I quit twelve years ago, and I remember something very clearly : I've remain tickled for maybe three years, far longer than what I expected. I hope that, knowing it can happen, you'll be prepared for a nice healthy future.

A trick that worked for my mother. Fill a jar with cigarette butts and water. Seal tightly. Whenever you have an urge, open the jar and smell that abomination.

10 years cigarette free for me last month. Good on ya man!

Just happy for you and the wife. Keep your strength and keep away from it. :-)

Gratz, it is difficult but worth it. I gave up 6 years ago and haven't looked back. I still want one occasionally but remind myself that if I have 1, then I will buy a pack on the way home, after that comes the carton... Always gets me back on track.

From what I've read, thinking about the new EVE store might not be healthy for anyone who cares about the game or CCP. As bitter and angry as I am about CCP and EVE, I nearly pity CCP for that store.
I smoked (cigarettes) from 12 to 32... How I quit was by stopping "quitting" and actually doing it as a done thing. IE, I HAVE quit. That I was able to stick with. I do still smoke an occasional cigar (always outside or in a well ventilated area and never inhale... eeew) but that is not quite the same health risk as a pack-a-day of Marlboro Reds...

I am happy for you and your wife. Keep up the good fight my friend.
