Time for Fanfest

This might be my last post before we head off to Fanfest on Tuesday. Lots to do to get ready for the trip and I might not have time to post while also packing, getting several hundred swag bags prepped, and all the other stuff that goes along with getting a household ready for a trip.

This will be our fifth Fanfest in Iceland and our sixth trip to the island. We went last Summer on a personal trip because we couldn't wait any longer. So this one will be a little shorter than usual, we leave on Tuesday evening and arrive Wednesday morning in Reykjavik. And then we leave Sunday evening to return in the middle of the night home. Which isn't as much fun as it sounds. That part of the trip always sucks. Our first Fanfest was 2015 and that one was insanely busy, stressful, and full of strange and wonderful things. It was the first time I ever met another Eve player in person and I met hundreds of them all at once. I did a presentation, signed autographs on my posters, had several meals with CCP people, went to the Charity Dinner, appeared live on EveTV with CCP Guard, and generally existed in a state of constant stress the entire time. That was a lot to deal with on our first trip. Luckily, over the years, it has gotten a lot easier. Now I don't freak out when someone calls me Rixx in real life. That also happened for the first time at that Fanfest. Not to mention that we had no money back then, so we existed on hotdogs while we were there. Long story.

A lot has changed since then. But besides that first Fanfest I can't recall another one with as much hype and anticipation as this one now has. It was already destined to be something special, it has been almost four years since the last Fanfest in Iceland back in 2018. But now with the price increase CCP has added an insane amount of hype for what we are going to see in Reykjavik this year. So it will be interesting to see what they have in store for us. To say the least. I'm trying really hard to keep my expectations in check and walk into this with my eyes and my mind open to what they have in store. But I have to admit that I'm expecting some big reveal, just like most of you reading this.

Please let it have something to do with Factional Warfare and Low Sec!

As for me, I'm looking forward to meeting many new people and catching up with old friends. A bunch of ABA pilots, some of whom have never been, are coming along this year and I can't wait to meet them! That is going to be fantastic.

Earlier this week I finished up a batch of new graphics for Clear Skies IV and I'm anxious to see the marathon as well as a sneak peek at Ian's progress on the new one. From what I've heard the sneak peek might just include a scene in which your friendly neighborhood Pirate Lord plays a character! We'll have to wait and see together.

All in all this is shaping up to be an exciting trip and one I am looking forward to. If you are reading this and going I'm looking forward to meeting you and giving you some cool swag. If you aren't going, or can't attend, just know that it might happen someday. I started playing Eve in 2009 and didn't attend my first Fanfest until 2015. Now I've been to not only Fanfest, but Amsterdam, Vegas, Toronto, and many more. So be sure to watch on the live stream.

I'm sure I'll have lots to say about whatever it is we learn next week. So be sure to follow me over on Twitter at @RixxJavix for all the latest updates as they happen.

Until then, fly it like you already lost it.
