This Saturday 40 or so Eve nerds will descend on our home to hang out all day, have great conversations, catch up on friendships, play games, drink, and eat together. And somewhere in there we might even talk about Eve Online a little. It happens. This will be the first time we've been able to hold one of these meet-ups since 2019 so this one will be something special after everything we've all been through these past two plus years.
My Wife and I had no idea what we were doing when we first decided to start holding this event. That first year was crazy and we had no idea if anyone would show up or not. Or if hundreds of people would show up. Who knew? So we held it at an event site in a park and about twenty people showed up. Which was fun and we all had a good time, but something was missing. Which is why we decided to throw caution to the wind and just have the darn thing at our home instead. Which just makes everything so much easier. Some people come and stay all day and into the night, while others stop by for awhile to say hello. It is much more casual this way.
This will be our fifth time doing this, which is just nuts. And this year, for the first time, we can add International visitors to the list! A couple of our friends from Germany will be attending! How amazing is that? It still blows my mind that someone would want to travel so far just to hang out with us, but it is super cool. And this year CCP was extra supportive of the event and sent along a nice big box of swag to give away! And lots of other people are traveling far and wide to get here as well. So it should be an amazing day. I can't wait.
All of which is exciting, but it also means a lot of work to prepare. But we don't mind, after all it only happens once a year and it has turned into something that we really look forward to doing.
Which reminds me, today I need to pack up the swag bags. I better get busy.
We have company coming.
