I don't know about you, but I need a lot of motivation to keep playing every single day. This motivation comes from a lot of different sources obviously, from my fellow corp-mates, to personal goals, and more. But sometimes I also need to make stuff up, or set myself stupid little goals to keep things interesting. I talk about this with my fellow pilots all the time, so I know I'm not alone. These little goals can be anything. The other day I undocked a Skybreaker just to try and get a kill in one and ended up destroying a Dragoon in it. I have a very long-term goal of getting 100 kills in every ship in my top 100 ships used list over on zKill. I'm at 37 right now.
One of those weird goals became obvious a few months ago. I randomly discovered that I was just a few months short of a totally meaningless accomplishment - scoring at least 100 kills a month for 36 months! The other day I scored my 100th kill of this month and secured that one. 36 months in a row. Starting in October 2022 and still running today. Again, this really means nothing in the long run. Like all statistics or numbers when it comes to Eve Online, but that also doesn't make it meaningless. It does mean something. What that might be is totally up to you. But for me it just shows that I've been busy the last three years and it isn't by coincidence either - that is the same time frame I've been working from home since the pandemic.
Like many of us I suspect, I've always struggled to find time to play. It can often be challenging, especially when you have to travel, or commute into work every single day. Life has a way of demanding your time and that doesn't always leave room to goof off inside an internet spaceship game. But one good thing to come out of the pandemic was working full-time from home. Now my schedule is my own. And while I still miss entire days of playing the game, it is far easier to work it into the schedule. Especially when you are working on a board game version! And have to be online a lot.
