The latest Legion expansion provided some much needed general love around the Eve universe, but did it go far enough? There remain some puzzling gaps and obvious issues that still need addressed and hopefully they will be eventually - but some of these issues have been with us a very, very long time. In my humble opinion here are six things I believe should be addressed. These are in no particular order.
Triglavian and Edencom Weapon/Damage Rigs
Every weapon system in Eve Online has rigs that can be added to your ship to enhance the attributes of the specific weapon system you are using - except these two. No Hybrid Locus or Rapid Fire rigs for us! Obviously the weapons systems are unique and so would require some unique solutions for solving attribute issues, but that shouldn't be an issue. And even if they came along with significant drawbacks involved at least the options would be there to use or not to use them. This would go a long way towards giving these ships even more customization options and variety.
I do agree implementing these would need to be carefully considered, but I know for sure my rusty unused Damavik would be eternally grateful.
Pirate Frigates Need a Role
Speaking of grateful ships, does anyone remember Daredevils, or Dramiels, or Succubus? Talk about a ship class that has been passed over, forgotten, and consigned to the archives of history. And while adding Advanced Scout plexes has helped a tiny bit - if you can find one - in general these poor ships have almost no role these days. It is a lonely life wandering the space lanes in one of these.
I have a radical and easy fix - let them enter any Faction Warfare plex one size larger than their class. Or, if you want to be a super conservative no-fun Dev, make it only apply to Pirate/Adv plexes. In other words a Daredevil could enter a Medium or Large plex. Boom. Done. See how easy that was? Let's make Pirate Frigates Great Again. I'm also open to other concepts.
Insurgency Pirate Damage
Whoa! Have you been attacked by these things?! Someone turned the damage up to 11 here and it really needs to be scaled back to 6. I watched one of our pilots in a Deimos lose his ship in about 30 seconds the other day on a gate. I jumped through that gate in my Comet and warped off, and in that time I was taken down to low hull. IN A COMET! This is ridiculous.
Adding bubbles to low sec was awesome. But these NPC bastards need to be brought down a notch or two. We're seeing a rise in a new kind of gate game play now when a positive sec status player in a cheap ship uses the NPCs to deal the death blow to other players. All of which is fine, if we have time to use a counter play - which right now is extremely challenging. These guys need adjusted.
Module Activation Bug
We're seeing a significant rise in this long-standing issue. As far back as 2010 I have experienced it and it seems to come and go depending on the current expansion. There are times when you really need your modules to work properly and they simply do not. I don't know what else to say about this annoying problem, I don't have access to any data or server reporting - but we are noticing it a lot more lately. It is frustrating and annoying.
Targeting Latency
If I slide into a plex flying a Frigate and some other player slides with me in a Dessie - I should be able to lock them BEFORE they can warp off. (Normal variations not withstanding) The other day I slid in with a Vexor and they were able to warp off before I could lock them. In no way does that make any sense at all. No matter how that Vexor was fitted. I've mentioned this specific issue for at least three Fanfests in a row, so it is time it was addressed.
The Insurgency Map
The Faction Warfare map is awesome. The Pirate Insurgency map is horrid. Why are there two styles of maps? Let's kill the current Insurgency map and utilize the FW one instead. Please? I'm so tired of trying to make heads or tails out of this thing, half the time it opens on the wrong battlefield and systems are bubbles that hide behind each other. Ugh. The one we had was fine, just adapt it to show the Insurgency effects.
Bonus
The overview needs some love. And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that the Condor really needs another mid-slot.
