It has been a very busy week here at Eveoganda HQ and I've been nose down on an exciting new project. So I haven't had much time to write. But I'm taking a break and hitting the keyboard to share two recent stories about two Moa cruisers.
There are days when literally nothing happens inside of Eve. Despite roaming, despite switching ships, despite all efforts to generate content - literally nothing works. Systems are empty. Enemies are turtled up. Cynos are being lit. Whatever the case may be, everything just goes flat and the hunting grounds are quiet. It happens. In these cases I will often turn to fitting ships, organizing the hangar, grabbing loot from far flung areas, or other tasks that often get pushed aside for pew pew. On this day I decided to turn my gaze towards an old Confessor I had hanging around in my hangar.
Old ships are interesting. I don't want to waste the rigs that are already fitted, so I often pull them out and see if they can be saved. Either I can tweak the fit to work, or I will often decide to just fly the thing as it is and make the best of it. I don't fly Confessors very often. The ships just don't really work all that well as PvP focused boats in the current meta (In my opinion). You have to make too many compromises on them in order to make them work, either that or bling them to the point it starts to become ridiculous. So I decided to make a few minor fixes and just undock the darn thing.
One jump away from home and I land on a gate with a Moa already engaged with some NPCs. He is positive sec status, so I can't engage without getting gate guns. So I just sit there like an idiot and wait to see what he does. I can almost hear the gears in his head. And sure enough, he decides his cruiser is more than a match for my ship and starts shooting. Which is exactly what I was hoping he'd do. Before I share the killmail please keep in mind that at this point I have no idea how his ship is fitted. I'm going into this fight purely on instinct, for all I know the damn thing is bling fitted and this pilot is a master of Moa combat.
I only had a few minutes to play on Sunday, so I jumped into my Comet and went out for a quick roam. The very first jump I noticed the Moa on scan. So I immediately went back to the station and jumped into a Gnosis I keep around as a prober. I figured it'd be a better option against the Moa than the Hecate or Meta. I stink at probing, always have, but I managed to pin the Moa down in just two cycles. It was a gated site and my Gnosis was not welcome inside.
So I went back home and grabbed my Gila. (I don't have any Moa fitted) This Gila is my anti-Gila Gila which I keep around to kill Gilas with. And it works just fine with Moas as well. Unfortunately the Moa ran off as I slid into his room. So now he has seen me and knows I'm after him.
Normally at this point I'd probably move on. But I was bored. So I went home and took my time grabbing my Lachesis. I don't fly it very often. But in this case it was the perfect solution. It is fine to run away from danger, but you should always realize that danger comes in many forms. First it can look like Sister Combat Probes, then a Gnosis on scan, then a Gila that just misses catching you - and then silence. And that silence is me in a Combat Recon.
And the big wheel keeps on rolling.
