My good friend Random McNally hooked me up this weekend with a new Odysseus! Which means I can finally bring my alt home from Jita, where she has been all week watching the prices on these ships. Waiting for the right moment to snag one. Random sold me this one at just above manufacturing costs, which is still insanely expensive. This thing takes more materials than a Nestor and the LP cost is rather insane. I'm guessing some of these details will get worked out in future patches, but for now the cost on these is not going to drop significantly in the near future.
By the way it takes three NEW skills to drive this ship. And those skills are not cheap. Nor are the four skill injectors I used to train them, lol. I'm an impatient Pirate Lord. I doubt I'll ever actually use the new mining links attached to this thing, but you have to train them in order to fly it.
I love my Stratios and my Astero - so my plan is for this ship to fit comfortably in that line-up. Sneaky cloaked bushwackers. Maybe at the head of a bomber wing possibly. My plans are not concrete, but I can imagine plenty of uses for a Battlecruiser sized bastard that appears out of nowhere right next to your ship. That is a lot of potential havoc. I'll be playing around with fits this week and see what comes out of the process of testing I always do. Typically it takes me a few weeks of testing before I bring any new ship into combat conditions, especially the more expensive ones. I've had my Babaroga for a few months now and still haven't used it for anything other than a few small skirmishes. In some ways I remain very cautious and careful. Or at least I like to tell myself that.
Speaking of new ships, we engaged a fleet of 19 blaster-fitted Pioneers yesterday on the Tama gate. We killed 14 of them and lost 3 ships in the process, that included one Outrider that they were using for links. Granted we had some help from a Snuff Vargur that jumped in halfway through the fight and helped us slaughter the remaining ships. So thanks for the hand there. (And yes, I just said those words.)
So I'm also anxious to get a look at these new ships and see what kind of trouble we can muster with them as well.
All in all a good couple of days.
More later.
