PvP Fest

Eve Online is currently running a "PvP Fest" in conjunction with zKill  and every solo kill in Eve Online will bring you closer to winning some truly solid Plex prizes. I 100% support this concept and think it is awesome. And yet I won't be participating.

And before people reading this start to mis-understand me - I love the concept and I wish everyone the best of luck. I will be continuing to play Eve the way I always play Eve. I'm not changing a single thing for the contest. Although Stay Frosty will be holding some special in-corp events during the running of the event, for the most part we're just going about things like normal. Like always.

More power to those that will be taking the time to farm their alt farm, or gate camp in a Vargur, or dump structures full of frigates, or whatever other stuff they feel the need to do in order to "win" the contest. That's great. Like I said, more power to you. Racking up killboard stats is not why I play Eve, if it was I'd have a lot more kills and way less losses. Again, I am not saying that other ways of playing this game are inherently bad, or wrong, or less than - and I hate the fact that I have to keep pounding this home - but you'd be shocked at how many people use my words against me. Doing whatever you want to rack up kills is fine. Truly. It is just not how I choose to play the game. I find it boring.

I play for the hunt. To out think and out play my opponents. I often put myself at a disadvantage on purpose so I can fight my way out of the hole I've put myself into. I will sometimes tackle a Vedmak in my Comet, just to see if I can get away with it. The way I play Eve doesn't make sense to most people. And it doesn't need to. It makes sense to me and it is what has kept me engaged for 18 years. It is all about personal challenge. And sometimes it can also be about challenging my corporation as well. But that is usually a totally different animal.

There is a lot more to it than that, but essentially the point is that I play Eve for myself and my corporation. And the way I choose to do that is extremely personal. Always has been. I have to strive to keep myself engaged and interested. Choosing variety, or finding small and often insignificant ways to entertain myself. Or writing about it. Or making videos about it. Whatever it takes.

So yeah, just going about my business as usual over here.

Interesting to watch others try to figure it out though.

PS: Plus I just don't play enough, a couple hours a day ain't enough.
