The other day one of our pilots spotted a Raven hanging around a gate in Low Sec and not moving. The character in question wasn't old, only a few months or so, and being in a BS on a gate in LowSec is unusual. Perhaps they had gone afk? The tell-tale mark was that this pilot was marked orange to us. Orange is a special color for those of us in Stay Frosty, we only use that color standing for very specific reasons. Known cyno alts, spais, scouts, and other nefariously minded pilots who need to be carefully watched. But without any specific information to go on, which one was this pilot? And why were they marked orange?
We re-shipped into T3 Cruisers and decided to investigate. 2 Proteus and a Loki. We got a scout into the next door system just in case someone tried to bum-rush us. As the only ship with a scram it would be my job to engage first, hold it down to keep it from using the MJD (if it has one) and then warp away while the others destroyed it. I could tell immediately that this was no normal Raven as it absorbed my void strikes rather well for a two month old player. Eventually I had to warp away and, sure enough, it used a micro jump drive and got away. Fair play.
It docked with me for reps. Strangely, it then undocked and warped to another out gate. One of our pilots on the other side, the Loki, got tackle on it and we rushed to help. This is the fun part. And I will say right now - nothing that happens after this was a surprise. As the Raven started to die a Redeemer landed on us. A single Redeemer is an odd sight and took us by surprise. I had to warp off to a perch to lose gate aggression, and then warp back to engage the Redeemer. The Raven exploded and popped out a Venture Consortium Issue that immediately popped a cyno. Ok, there was the rest of them.
I don't remember all the ships that landed, but there was a Nid and about 10 other ships in total. I gave the order to GTFO and turned my Proteus around and away from the group. Luckily my ship was mwd fitted and I over-heated that sucker and started burning. Despite taking some serious incoming dps, I finally managed to warp off to safety. My corp mates also escaped. We managed to bring down the Raven and the Venture cyno without losing a single ship.
It isn't often you can all survive a hot-drop like that. An exciting day to say the least.
