Recently the folks over at JUST posted a reward to create a tourism style video for any system, planet, or site in New Eden. Well that was right up my alley. The problem was, I didn't want to do just anything. I had already created a Universal Geographic documentary on Ouelletta. So I needed a new angle, something creative, something new and fun.
I've been on a lot of tours over the years but one of the most interesting was a Gator Tour I went on down in New Orleans. The tour was during a day off while we were busy shooting commercials and had been set-up by someone for us, so the three of us on the Tour had no idea what we were getting into. It turned out to be one of the weirdest days in my life and I'll never forget it.
Which turned out to be the inspiration that I needed. I have to also admit that Saul Goodman also came to mind while creating this commercial. I don't often let the southern in my voice out to play, but I decided to go all in on creating Randy's personality - so if anyone has any negative things to say about me pretending a southern accent - just know that isn't pretending. I grew up in the south. That is an accent I've spent a lifetime putting behind me, but it is still there in the background. Although I obviously exaggerated it a lot for effect.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the commercial and all the easter eggs and references. I had a lot of fun creating this one and I hope it comes across in the final product.
