Wild Banshee Indians

Whenever my brother and I would run around like crazy people, our Mother would say, "You two are like a pack of wild banshee Indians." The Internets say, "A banshee Indian is an Indian mythical female spirit whose wailing or appearance warns a family that one of them will soon die. Before a death occurs, the Indian banshee will go wailing and clapping hands: if the death is of a holy person, a whole chorus of banshees will wail." Ok fine, I believe everything I read on the Internets. I don't think my Mom seriously thought my brother and I were harbingers of death, at least I hope not. I suspect what she was on about was the sounds we were probably making. When you are a kid these sounds are normal, but when you grow up and have children of your own - well then you know exactly what kind of Hell your own parents lived through. I Have Concerns

This week I was burning towards an enemy ship to set-up an engagement (nothing was over-heated) when suddenly my prop mod stopped working. It just went dead. I warped off and docked up to repair it, but it wouldn't be repaired. It just stayed dead. I had to purchase a new one from the market a system over and replace it. Odd. This week I can no longer track Asteroid Belts. Everything else, stations, plex, gates, anything else in space - but not Asteroid Belts. I've tried everything. As have others in Stay Frosty who are experiencing the same thing. It is just not working. This is annoying and impacts us hunters directly. Add these to the constant loss of chat windows, the random loss of the ability to type or use commands, and the other dozen or so annoyances that keep popping up and things start to feel concerning. Eve Frontier

Eve Had Other Ideas

You can fly around for ages and ages and never see a lone Battleship ratting in a belt. Not in Low Security space. While this used to be more common than it is today, that is not saying it was ever a common sight. It is rare. And, for those of us who hunt the space lanes, a huge opportunity. Not only for a potentially awesome kill, but also for potential loot. And so it was a few days ago. I was out and about in my Astero hunting for potential targets of opportunity. Just a few days before I had managed to catch a Vexor Navy Issue in the same ship and bring her down. I had thought that was a excellent "above your weight class" catch - but I wasn't prepared for what I saw on d-scan. There was only one other person in local - me and the player in the Typhoon. A Typhoon I rapidly realized was in a belt ratting. Again, not to over sell this - but highly unusual, can't remember the last time this happened... and did I mention there was no one else in local? The People Factor

A common question from young players tends to go like this, "Can X ship defeat Y ship?" Or some variation. As usual, our focus within Eve Online often falls in the wrong place. And while fittings, modules, tactics, and strength of relative ship versus ship combat is critically important - we often forget the single most important factor involved - the other person. One of the most revelatory moments for me inside of Eve Online happened during my first few weeks of playing the game. As it slowly began to dawn on me that the other characters in this game weren't NPCs at all, but other players. People sitting behind keyboards, just like me, flying spaceships. I knew this going in of course, but it took some time for it to really sink in. As it did that knowledge became the bedrock behind my long playing career. The challenge of facing down other players and defeating them in combat, and eventually in other ways as well, was the driver behind wanting to succeed at this insane
