Changing Underwear

You may have noticed that the venerable Eveoganda layout is a tad different now. I finally broke down and switched the entire site to a more dynamic and responsive design layout.

I've been planning this for months, so this wasn't a spur of the moment decision. But even so, the move is going to take some getting used to.

In addition I may lose all of the previous Intense Debate comments from the old site. I say "may" because the jury is still out. I'm waiting to hear back from them and, in the meantime, trying to get DISQUS running. So please be patient with me as I try to get the bugs out over the next few days.

I did lose some features, but I will be replacing those with some new ones. In addition I need to spend some time working on the pages across the top nav bar. The content from the sidebars on the old site is still here, and is now easily accessed with the sidebar nav system that is floating around over on the right side of your screen.

And, if you happen to be reading this on your mobile device, it should be even better than ever. Eveoganda was mobile ready years ago, but I think it looks even better on my phone now. It is also a lot easier for me to write posts and whatnot from my mobile device, so win-win.

As always my goal is to continue to improve the site for your entertainment and enlightenment. So I hope you enjoy the new look.

So there it is. Now back to Eve.

I played with this template as well. It's going to have to grow on me. Out of the gate, I'm not a fan. It may be clean and shiny, but we want to read, not navigate.

I admit it is taking some getting used to. But I haven't seen the layout as a hinderance, it seems so much easier to find what you are looking for. Especially older content.

Also, you can change the layout yourself by clicking the upper left drop down.

Just wanted to say I love your new Blue and White logo, that thing is hot... or chill, whichever.

BLue for the win! BLog Buddies!

Lol, didn't even think of that. I was just getting tired of red and orange, was stuck in a rut.

I recommend Classic or Sidebar format at the top left if you like not clicking to get the rest of the words. Personally I like Sidebar best, one click per article gets all the content.

I'll second the logo praise. Well done.

It goes well with the new Stay Frosty corp. Though I can't help but imagine Rixx as "Mistah Fuhrees" from Bahtman, with all this ice-blue. ;-)

Much easier to read. Thumbs up!

Got to say I'll miss the RJ's Reading list on the side bar. Many a time I've come to Eveogander and then headed off via that after catching up on posts here.

Hi. I am casual reader of your blog - funny and informative stuff; sometimes less funny and less informative but that is how the things are in our lives. :) It is nice to have a change, and i think this is change for a better.
There is one thing which always harassed me on modern blogs: omitting a year from the date of the post. If you can put it there it would be nice :)
And if i may suggest - though i have not participate in any of previous discussions - leave comments there. :)

It is still there, right sidebar this time. rollover the right and you'll see it sneak out of the side for you.

Thousands of comments have been lost, I am working on getting them returned.

The date is at the bottom of every post.

eh.. i dont think you should change anything if you dont want. but regarding date :) i am using "magazine layout" choice. so it says ie. 21 march in "top tag", and at bottom something like "3 weeks ago" or "21st march". well, i cannot see year... maybe im just blind to this detali...
but, nvm - im just grumbling over unimportant details :)

Overall I'm enjoying the new site layout, organization, and coloring. A few things I'm wondering about, is there a cookie or an option to enable that allows me to keep a specific layout every time I visit? I enjoy the sidebar view but if I close the site and reopen it I have to go select the sidebar option again. Pertaining to the side bar on the right I'm not a big fan of side bars that do the whole hidey thing but the one on the right covers up my scroll bar. I don't know how many people are having this issue but on your reading list several of the titles and blog names overlap and so you can't tell what they are. The last thing I suggest which is just a quality of life improvement, is to eliminate blogs on your reading list that haven't updated in 3+ months, if they have a guide you like I'd suggest linking it in your nifty "Maps & Guides" area, or maybe creating one more tab that just has links to all the blogs you've read/liked. Other than that it's looking great!

How can I get the sidebar on an iPhone?

Looks good. Fab job.

It is in the upper left on my phone, like a drop-down menu.

No, its ok. The ones with the year are posts from previous years, the blog assumes that all current posts are written in 2013. Those written in previous years do have the year on them. Hope that helps

I hear you. This is a work in progress and I am actually working on fixing or trying to fix many of the things you bring up. Hang in there. This blog has been constantly improved and updated for four years and it won't stop now.

Is there any way to add RJ's Reading list to the upper left drop down menu? The right side bar doesn't appear on any of my three different phones (iPhone, Samsung, BB)
Your blog is my favorite by far, but I really like the auto-updated reading list.
