Ok this is an illustration I've been sloooowly working on since it was announced over on JUST. And only just finished it today. I actually had this idea a long time ago and finally had a reason to get finish it. Everything on here is a digital painting except for those gears on the side. I really didn't want to paint those, so I lifted them from an old stock photo I have in my archives. I also used a LOT of reference and that damn ember window on the side drove me insane. But there isn't a trace of AI in the image. I simply took a screenshot of a real Marshall, distorted it a bit with the warp tool and then got busy painting.
Here are some details with the gears pointed out in the upper left image. And then a close up of all the paint strokes. I should have taken the time to add rivets and now I'm upset with myself. But seriously, how much of my time should I dedicate to something like this? I'm guessing I have 30-40 hours in this as it stands already.
Will I do any other spaceships like this? Probably not. But I hope you enjoy this one.
