An Eve Comic

Been on a bit of a micro-break this past week or so when it comes to video production. Had to finish up some work on the Eve Squadrons game with Titan-Forge, it's Summer, family stuff, etc. You know, the usual stuff. I realize the ludicrous nature of this statement, understanding that my last video was only five days ago! So this break is really more of an imaginary, only from my own perspective thing and I should probably stop mentioning it.

If you ever needed an example of how I write these blog posts 60% of the time, the opening paragraph of this post is a perfect example.

You can literally smell the smoke from my brain as I'm writing those words.

Let's start over. We all need a break and that brings me to my latest video "An Eve Comic". The other day I was somewhere in New Eden when I took this screenshot of my Comet having just landed at the star.

This is the kind of thing that lingers. And then I was over on JUST and saw the reward for producing an Eve Web Comic and the gears started doing their creative thing. I could do a 1v1 style black and white comic and animate it. But I've done that already, more than a few times. And I don't like repeating myself if it can be avoided. Which is usually when inspiration strikes.

I spent most of my time deciding on the tone I wanted. I had many ideas. In the original version it all ends with a gank of the new player. Kind of a harsh "welcome to Eve" moment. Punchline and out. I also had other funny moments in mind. But nothing that landed for me. There is just something about the current state of the world that makes humor based around cruelty seem a bit much. I needed something more light-hearted and positive.

And while it might not be as "haha" funny as some of the other choices, I think - in the end - the result is more lingering. At least I hope so.

These are all pieces of my creative expression. And while many of them don't become thunderous successes, they all come from the same place. And I enjoy sharing those expressions with all of you. And I'll continue to do so. As long as I am able.

Onward & upward.
