One of the very first images I created for Eve Online way back in 2008 was a size comparison image of a Merlin hovering over and American Football field. And then I did the Merlin, Moa, and Drake next to the Empire State Building. And it just never stopped. One of the most iconic of these has to be the Ragnarok over Manhattan image I created back in 2015 -
Which led to then CCP asking me to create a similar version of a Titan over London they could use for their office opening promotions. I won't post that one here because those two are already rather large files. But you can easily see it for yourself at this link. Although I believe that is the comp version and not the actual final printed version.
I suppose now you could just ask AI to do this for you. I wouldn't know. I'll stick to the time-honored Photoshop traditions thank you.
Eve scale is extremely challenging for a wide variety of reasons. Mainly two big ones. First of all the scale is insane and barely human. Second, there are few things in New Eden we can relate to on a human scale against which to measure the enormity of that scale. So we're left with stuff we can actually relate to - but sadly there isn't much we've created at that scale. Not when a Titan is literally the same length as the island of Manhattan.
A Raven is almost 1k from tip to stern. So probably 1.5-2k wide. Even the USS Nimitz barely compares with it. Which is why I ended up pushing the Raven backwards in space away from the ship. It was the only way to get enough of it in frame so you could see it. This took a lot of focus pulling photoshop work, almost all of which was done by hand and eye.
Anyway, I enjoy these and I'll keep making them when the mood strikes. And I hope you enjoy them as well.
