Last week I hit 3,990 solo kills over on zKill and I decided to start recording every fight leading up to hitting the 4,000 milestone. That is what this video is, unedited and not planned. Just the way things unfolded as if they were any other days. I was offered many chances to "set-up" fights or arrange for things to happen in a more dramatic way - but I politely declined all offers. I earned every one of the previous 3,990 and I wasn't going to change now.
I don't especially enjoy milestones. I don't like thinking about killboards, statistics, or measurements of any kind. And an approaching milestone is a moment that creeps into your mind and starts to impact your decision making. Or it can, if you allow it. I just try to stay focused and continue operating the same way I always do. Although I may have been a tad more isolated the past two weeks. I just wanted to get it over with and move on.
While I enjoy solo fights my favorite thing in Eve Online is flying with my friends and fellow Stay Frosty pilots. Small gang is my jam. The opportunities are greater and I enjoy the hunt. Always have. From the moment I realized the other ships in Eve were piloted by other players, the concept of outplaying, outwitting, and defeating other players in the world's most complicated game has appealed to me. And I know a lot of people would like to see Eve become a garden of eden game in which we all just held hands and got along - or at least that is what they'd like us to believe. But I'm not interested. There are plenty of idyllic peace games available out there if that is your jam. Have fun.
Shout-out to my fellow Stay Frosty pilots Ciba Lexlulu, Prda Prda, Darkon Chanlin and Cervantes Marovinjun all of whom have significantly more Solo Kills than I do. These guys are the real experts and I learn from their example every single day.
Like I always say, it's a lot more than most and a lot less than some.
